I read this without reading #1. I don't think that influenced my opinion of this volume. It is interesting but ultimately that good. The art is nice but not groundbreaking and I get it, it is hard to make a new take on superheroes, but it wasn't terrible, just not that good.

The first half of this was stellar. The second half left too many unanswered questions as if it was an ongoing or more was planned. I'd be excited to read more in this universe. However, leaving it wide open without knowing if there will be more made the ending feel unbalanced.

There's a delightfully screwball quality of knowing camp to all the mayhem that takes place in this abandoned metropolis, where an invasion of Lovecraftian design lurks beneath its sewers and thus poisoned the brains of all the superheroes, all while citizens try to escape, reign, or carry out big plans.

Another great volume!

Ah, these are the only 2 volumes listed and I really hope there's more because this ended on a cliffhanger!

I really love what was done with the addition of the new humans and the plot regarding the supervillains. This book is quite violent; like almost Clean Room levels of violent. And it kinda has to be to really convey how fucked everyone is. Southern Belle is one of the most powerful superhumans I've read about to be honest and I'm impressed because typically, female heroes are given some weakness to make them just weak enough that men can easily overpower them. This plot with her and Overlord was really interesting.

I really liked Cody and Tanner as characters. I'm wondering how this is going to work out with the way this volume ended. Ahhhhh, I really need the next part.

Got my kickstarted copy, and, as others have noted, it looks fantastic. The art really takes center stage here with a lot of really gorgeous panels, some with literally visceral impact.

The story, though, fell short for me. Though it's deranged superheroes gone wrong rather than a zombie apocalypse, it's a pretty familiar "handful of survivors on the move in a dangerous post-apocalyptic world" story. Everything happens very quickly, and we never really get a good sense of the ex-heroes or of any of the survivors but one.

Still, it's entertaining and, as mentioned above, looks great. I guess I was just hoping to be knocked out.
