I was definitely pulled into this book from the very beginning. As soon as Piranesi began discovering clues as to where he was and who he is I could not put the book down and finished it in a few days. Honestly I felt the reveal came a bit too early and I would have enjoyed wandering the halls with Piranesi for a bit longer. At times I found Piranesi's naivety a bit frustrating and rolled my eyes more than once, but otherwise he is a very charming character.

I liked it, but I think it's one that will improve with a second read. You kind of have to be in the right headspace for it, otherwise the first hundred pages can be boring. The world - which feels cold, hard, wet and isolating (although Piranesi doesn't necessarily feel that way) - was not what I needed in the middle of a Chicago winter :^)
