Great throw down!
This one's a really good story of two people who've known each other for a long time and found love again somewhere between being enemies at court.
Kennedy and Brent are almost alike in character. They're both strong headed, great talker and both are gorgeous. They'd make amazing babies, just saying! Just like what Brent said in the book, I think he was just waiting for Kennedy to come back and give him his heart again. Kennedy on the other hand, had issues that needed to be aired out. She's soooo stone cold at first that I must admit, I didn't like her much at the start. She gets better though, once she lets the past go and trusts Brent.
I love the fact that Kennedy and Brent had history. I love how they reminisced and hashed out everything before and while being together. I also love how well they could separate their relationship from the case, though I'm pretty sure that their liaison was illegal at that time.
I'm happy for Brent's happy ending. It was well deserved. :)

4 STARS
it was good. i didn't care for one particular bit but eh. i was hoping it would exceed my expectations but it sadly didn't. i can safely say that sustained is my favourite out of this series. though i did love the extended epilogue.

I love books narrated by Deacon Lee and this one did not disappoint at all. Emma Chase’s writing is fun and exciting. Really love this series and it’s highlight on Brent’s ability to be hot and athletic with a prosthetic leg

4.5 stars — OMG you guys, every time I read a book by Emma Chase I wonder why I don’t read more from her. I LOVED Sustained (book 2 in this series, still haven’t read book 1 yet), and a long time ago I remember being worried about how I would like Brent’s book. But YOU GUYS! I LOVED IT! Like seriously loved it.
Brent was amazing…he was incorrigible, flawed, selfish, emotionally stunted but also strangely in touch with his emotions at the same time. He was also willing to explore his feelings, he didn’t shy away from that like many heroes. I LOVED that. I loved his voice throughout the story, he was just hilarious and sassy, and I laughed as much as I cried…well probably more laughing, but there was the occasional crying. He really was the epitome of a hero that you love despite his flaws. I may have wanted to smack him at times, but he eventually found his way, you know?
I loved that his disability really affected who he was, but didn’t slow him down. And while it was a part of who he was, it actually didn’t affect the main storyline. It was just sort of an aspect of his character that occasionally came into play. I will admit that I am endlessly curious about the accident, but I survived not getting many details. I also loved that he regularly went to see a therapist and he wasn’t ashamed about it. It was such a nice and refreshingly positive viewpoint.
I understood all of Kennedy’s hang ups and really felt for the struggles she went through in boarding school in their past. I thought her forgiveness of Brent came at a reasonable pace, that it was believable. I would occasionally get frustrated with her distrust, even as I found it reasonable. It’s just that we only get Brent’s POV in this book, so it was so much easier to fall in love with him despite his flaws. Without getting a peek in Kennedy’s head, we don’t really know much of what she’s thinking. I loved how strong she appeared from his viewpoint. I also appreciated how she was flawed herself, allowing her past to affect her present (especially in the kind of prosecutor she became).
The chemistry between Brent and Kennedy, from friendship to steamy, was spot on perfect. I loved them together and was rooting for them pretty much the entire time. You could really feel the connection they had in the past, and thus you could really understand how they each got hurt (often by their own teenaged hands). And that connection just sparked right back up when they met again. Brent was so playful with Kennedy, I found myself laughing and smiling like a loon way too often.
I loved all the little side bits in the story as well. From the interactions Brent had with Harrison, to his friendship with Jake, Stanton and Sofia. The story showcased lots of great relationships. I even really loved the trial with Justin, and the way that played out.
Honestly, the writing is just so witty and fun and had me sucked in from beginning to end. I wish I had a Kindle copy so I could have highlighted the shit out of it. It’s wishlisted, just gotta keep praying for a sale. 😛 Either that or I gotta suck it up.

“The ride is the only thing that makes the fall worth it.”
When I found out that this book will be out on the 19th of January, I’ve been counting the days. I am more excited for the book birthday of Appealed than for my 22nd birthday (Which was on the 21st of January, by the way) I wish I can fast forward the days so that I can read the book immediately simply because…
1. It was Brent Mason’s story
2. Because it was Emma Chase
Yes, she’s one of my favorite authors. If you’re looking for an amazing author who can write a PERFECT male POV, I highly recommend her works. Why? She’s the QUEEN of MALE POV. And the moment I started reading Appealed, I can’t put it down. Emma Chase didn’t disappoint me with the 3rd installment the Legal Briefs series in fact, it went beyond my expectations. It was definitely worth waiting for.
Emma Chase’s writing style is SPECTACULAR. The moment I start reading her books, it will be very difficult for me to put it down because of her writing style. She’s one of those amazing authors who can combine different kinds of emotions in a scene. She never fails to make me cry, swoon, drool over the hotness of her heroes and heroines, she also never fails to make my heart beat fast.

Brent and Kennedy were childhood friends; they also live in the same neighborhood. They were best friends at first and it developed into something more sometime in high school but before it actually turn into a relationship like the boyfriend-girlfriend kind of thing they experienced challenges in their ‘relationship’ and it ended. After 14 to 15 years, the meet again and they ended up in the different sides of the courtroom where Brent is the Criminal Defense attorney and Kennedy was the Prosecutor of the Longhorn Case that they are both working hard for.
There are a lot of things that I liked about this book aside from the amazing writing style. I loved the main and supporting characters.
Kennedy… I love everything about her. She’s one of the best LAWYER Characters I’ve ever encountered. I think she tied with Rylann and Brook of Julie James’ FBI/US Attorney series. Kennedy is a perfect prosecutor. I love how professional she is after knowing that the attorney of the opposing party is no other than THE Criminal Defense Attorney Brent Mason—her childhood sweetheart. Because they made it clear, right? There will be NO Conflict of Interest. She’s also one of those independent characters. She’s sassy, intelligent, and confident and I love how dedicated she is when it comes to her job as a prosecutor. I love how she argue with her cases and fight for her case to make sure that guilty defendants will stay behind the bars. I like how committed she is in her job as a prosecutor, like she will still fight for her case even though her life is a risk.
And here comes Brent. I like him on the 1st two installments of Legal Briefs series but I fell in love for him after reading Appealed. Unlike the two heroes in this series, Brent doesn’t have commitment issues. He sure has some at first but that didn’t stop him for winning Kennedy’s heart for the 2nd time. I love how he takes care of Kennedy. I like that he’s concerned and committed to the people he loves and that he loves Kennedy so much.
“I’ve never forgotten you, sweetheart. Not even close.”
I also love the appearance of Sofia, Stanton, Chelsea, Jake and the McQuiad monsters haha! I love this book and the conclusion to this series is indeed, PERFECT.
“If I could go back and change all of that, I would. But this is where we are now. We have to move forward. I’m in love with you. And if it takes awhile for you to wrap your head around that – to wrap your heart around it – then I’ll wait. Because you’re worth waiting for. You always were.”
5 out of 5 stars.
The hero here was funny and kind of snarky.
While he may or may not have done some questionable things in their high school but he was cute now.
I didn't like the way she handled the court case at first but could understand where she was coming from.
The epilogue-- it was so amazing (and kind of vindictive) I loved it so much. And the sweet extended epilogue? It was so adorable .
I might have to read more by this author.

I'm just gonna go ahead and get this out in the open right away, this book was my least favorite in this series. That being said, its still a really great book. Emma Chase will forever be the queen of the male POV. I still can't figure out how she writes these cocky, crude, brilliant, sexy men who, in real life would disgust me, in a way that makes me desperately fall in love with every one of them.
This time it's a fast-paced, sweet & sexy second chance romance between Brent Mason his childhood neighbor, best friend and first love Kennedy Randolph that will suck you and have you laughing until your cheeks hurt.
This story was pretty simple and sweet and I loved getting to see the whole gang together. Is this not a group of friends/family that you wouldn't love to spend your weekends hanging out with? PS. Dena, you can have Brent but Jake is mine forever!!
This book was a really light-hearted read until the last 15% when the feels really started to hit me and that's when I really fell in love with Brent and Kennedy. The extended epilogue was the perfect way to end this series and remind me why I loved it so much.
