I was genuinely surprised at what a great whole class novel this was. Since teaching intermediate grades, this is the first book that truly pulled my classes in. At the last chapter, both of my classes broke out in applause at the “surprise” resolution. Not only that, but they were begging to make sure we read more books (I mean obviously… but I’ll pretend they pulled my leg into reading more

I thought this was a cute kids book with realistic characters. The setting of a suburban school was hard for my students to relate to. I also appreciated the content. It was an interesting story line.

A great story of how it just takes one person to change the world. Realistic characters and believable plot (even if it takes a bit of a stretch). Imaginative and relatable.

Pretty funny, but I was totally on the side of "words have a HIStORY that makes them MEANINGFUL YOU CAN'T JUSt mAkE UP WORds AnD EXPECT IT TO bE THE SAME" and then the other part of me was like "lol no cap?" so anyway. Not me getting really worked up over a children's book.

The first half of the book is better than the second half, but overall it's still an above-average youth book. I read this aloud with my 9 y.o. daughter and we loved it.

What a great book! I read it aloud to my 7 and 11 year old and they loved it! It made them laugh and got their creative juices flowing and they started coming up with their own words. Such a wonderful read.

this was a sociolinguistic study

I enjoyed this book about a strong boy who made a word become real. Made me cry a bit.
