Surprised to say I’m ready to say goodbye to the Banished Lands. A Time of Courage was 700 pages of fighting. I normally chew through battle scenes, but by the end I felt exhausted. There was little to no plot advancement or character growth. The ending has a nice bow on it, but overall it felt a bit rushed and I couldn’t help compare it to the final seasons of Game of Thrones. Travel between locations that would normally take an entire book and be full of story instead took a page to make it to the next battle. All of that being said, The Faithful and the Fallen is one of my favorite series of all time that I will revisit in the future. I’m glad I read Of Blood and Bone and I enjoyed the story and new characters, and I would recommend it to others who enjoyed the first series, but I likely won’t be returning again for a re-read. I can’t wait to read some of John Gwynne’s other books!
They name dropped the name of the book before the final battle 10/10
(But no seriously a very worth conclusion to the entire series)

A Time of Courage by John Gwynne
3.75⭐
This was a slightly deviated repeat of the Faithful and the Fallen series. I kept my hopes up the first two books but it's the exact same formula with a few changes. Still, if you like the comfort like that, you'll enjoy reading it again here. Same distinct lines of good vs bad, heros and evildoers. He dived a bit more into the bad guys with a POV in that camp.
The last 5% of the book was unique and I enjoyed the development. However, I loathed a potential continuation he left there. It is written and done.
The whole series would be a 4⭐ since the writing is still excellent, the story is great... As it was great the last time I read.it 😂. It was so formulaic I could predict too much to enjoy the story.
