Love the team bonding. Bit of angst between Percy and Jason. Looking forward to what happens next

These books will never get old, and I will always love rereading them. I chose 4 rather than 5 stars because of how many POVs and characters there are, I was lost in some moments. But other than that, this book is a classic and I always love the ending.

Another masterpiece by Rick!

Annabeth and Percy are reunited! After the long, heart-wrenching events of the previous book, Percy and Annabeth are finally back together, but the situation is dire. After a small predicament with Terminus, God of borders, the crew of the Argo II get into New Rome and are welcomed (if a little warily) until the Argo suddenly starts firing on the city.

In this book, 7 demigods and their trigger-happy Satyr chauffeur Coach Gleeson Hedge set off on a quest to Italy, the ancient land, in the flying boat the Argo II to try and save Rome and everyone's favourite demigod Nico di Angelo, son of Hades... or is that just me? Annabeth receives a cursed drachma from her mother and is told to follow the Mark of Athena and find the Athena parthenon, a forty-foot statue of the divine goddess Athena that was stolen centuries ago, but she has to go it alone.

Written by Rick Riordan as the third installment in the Heroes of Olympus series, this has, once again, vastly improved in quality as compared to it's predecessors, with new twists and turns at just the right time, the pacing was on point. As with the previous books, the perspective switching was well-timed and kept me turning the pages. And, of course, I wanted to know the Wine Dude Dionysus (or is it Bacchus??) "helped out".

This book is yet another phenomenal work from Riordan, but one criticism I stand by is that, until Annabeth set off on her solo quest, I found the whole Mark of Athena business hard to really care about. Sure, it might be the key to peace between the Greek and Roman camps, but it felt a bit neglected for a while, and even the quest itself started quite near the end of the book and felt a bit rushed.

Effectively, this is a must-read if you're into Greco-Roman mythology and culture, and even if you're not, it's a great fantasy read.

5 stars!

This was an intense book full of exciting parts! I couldn’t choose a favorite side-quest even if I wanted to.
Percy and Annabeth have my whole heart, I hope they’ll live forever and will always be happy. I still want them to have kids someday and I just want a book where they tell their totally normal children about the quests they did when they were younger. Percy would be the king of dad jokes.

The other characters finally found their place in this found family group and I’m living for it. I just laugh for an hour every time Percy meets one of his “family members” from Poseidon’s side. I love every interaction between the group and one of the gods. Riordan could write a list of random words in random languages and it would be funny.

Lastly, I heard about a heartbreak that’s going to happen in this book so I was mildly disappointed when nobody died haha
But seriously, I think that one comment destroyed the chance at 5 stars.
Still, it was an amazing story and I can’t wait to read the next!

The crew is finally getting all together!!! And it’s messyyyyy. All the way from the beginning, accidentally starting a war with the romans, all the way to that cliffhanger ending 😱 this was nonstop action and drama. This book has some of my all time favorite scenes in the Percy Jackson series, from Annabeth and Percy finally reuniting, the stable scene and aftermath 😏, Percy and Jason duel, them working together afterwards to create a storm against the romans, the whole thing with Hazel, Leo and Frank and finally, Annabeth outwitting Arachne.

My only complaint is that despite the Mark of Athena being such a pivotal plot point, we barely spend anytime with the actual quest. Most of the book was composed of several side quests and obstacles trying to get to Rome, and they manage to get there only on the very very last day of their time limit. That seems to be one of my main criticisms of this series, because it makes the pacing all over the place. The first two thirds seem to be much slower and then it all happens at once by the end. In my opinion, it would have been better if they arrived to Rome one or even two days before, and we spent more of that time with Annabeth separated from the group.

Despite all, this was probably my favorite book so far, and can’t wait to see how the addition of Nico  affects the group
and how the heck are
Annabeth and Percy supposed to survive Tartarus!
