Apesar de o começo pegar a gente de jeito, ela não consegue manter essa expectativa

In the beginning of the novel, Dr. Wiley accidentally kills a patient Caleb McDuffuly. We learned that Caleb actually raped and killed Anna‘s younger sister Melanie, who was adopted. Anna recognized Caleb by his ugly birthmark on his face, which he had covered by a hat during their preop meetings.
The attorney Paula Fussner is a bitchy, cutthroat woman who is sleeping with Derek. Derek confesses to her that Anna killed Caleb accidentally, but that there was a connection there and he uses this information to create a case against Anna trying to get her arrested for murder. She does this all illegally and ends up, getting caught by her boss, giving her more fuel and hatred towards Anna.
Shockingly Derek becomes very defensive of his wife, even though he’s a cheating asshole, and also threatens Paula , which creates more hatred.
Anna is cleared from any wrongdoing on the surgical table. Paula then attacks her with a gun. we learn that Paula is actually the adopted sister Melanie, real sister and was also abused by Caleb and that moment she learned that the dead patient is Caleb and his happy he has been killed.
There is a fight in the office Derek is shot and so is paula. Paula is going to be charged with attempted murder, which saddens Anna she wants to divorce Derek but can’t he threatens her because he knows the truth about Caleb the last line of the story implies that Anna will kill Derek

Reading slump all this month. Yet, I was able to get out of it. This book is brilliant. Well written thriller with such amazing plot twist. So upset I didn’t finish it sooner!
