Was this a thriller? Jury is still out. I was pulled in the last 20%.

This was the revenge trope overly done to the point where I felt like the psych thriller part fell flat. The twists were there but not as psych thriller twisting as I hoped or am use to. It kind of felt like the book was about somebody, seeking revenge, and the last 20% was a “quick, this is a thriller got to throw the twists in.”

Anne is a celebrated cardio thoracic surgeon with a 100% survival rate from all her operations, that is until she is faced with the man who has haunted her nightmares since childhood.

Anne is also beautiful, appearing on billboards advertising the hospital, comes from a wealthy family and is married to an attractive and successful lawyer who is running for election as mayor.

To an outsider her life is perfect, until she crosses paths with Paula, an Assistant State Attorney who has Anne firmly in her sights and is determined to catch her.

Did Anne do all she could or can Paula finally convict her of murder?

My first book by this author so I don't know if a tendency towards the melodramatic is their usual style or possibly due to the narration, but good twists and worth a read.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Nothing happened until around the 87% mark, and even then, the ending was incredibly weak. I’m meant to believe that the protagonist can’t forgive cheating, but can forgive the woman her husband is fucking for trying to end her career and kill her? I’m all for suspension of disbelief, but please be serious for even a minute. It’s really goofy that Paula is coming after Anne at all for the adoption of her sister as if she had any control over that? Wouldn’t she come for the mother? The legal guardians? The plot had so much potential and it fell flatter than I could have imagined possible. Another boring tale centered on yet another dummy female protagonist we see too often in this genre. First read by this author and will be steering clear in the future as a result. Don’t waste your time on this one.

It was enjoyable but it took a while to get into. It has twists and turns but wasn’t surprised. Absolutely hated Paula. Anne was so oblivious it was irritating. Took about 100 pages to get into it. Was not expecting the end. Overall it was a good story but I feel the narration could’ve been better as well as the character development.
