The story occasionally manages to draw you in, despite its clumsy narration, implausible plot, inane dialogue, and cartoonish characters who are little more than walking clichés, behaving at times with no discernible logic. Paula, in particular, is an especially unpleasant character, and while unpleasant characters can be entertaining, she’s an exaggerated caricature and simply irritating. Derek, meanwhile, acts like a cartoon character.
