Quaint yet cliche
The love story was cute. And Logan and Des together were a good fit. But, honestly, the sex became boring to read. I would have preferred seeing their relationship bloom instead of the we are great together in bed so it means we are meant for each other outside of it.

I have a small girl crush on Des. She was awesome. She was upfront and honest. She wasn't afraid to put herself out there. She didn't play games or cause drama. Even when Logan was acting the ass she called him on it then walked away, no hysterics, no drama. She felt a bit unsettled about what she wanted for her future, but she was confident in herself and not afraid to work for what she wanted.
Logan acted the ass for most of the book. He wanted Des, but didn't want to want her. He let his mother's actions dictate how he lived his life, which didn't make a lot of sense considering the strong, confident man he was. His saving grace was how quick he was to apologize once he was called on his behavior. He might have needed a cooling down period, but when he sad sorry he meant it. It was too bad he spent so much time needing to apologize.
Their chemistry was great both in the bedroom and out of it. They connected on more than one level, which made their romance believable.
I really enjoyed the snippets of ranching life and life on the set of the movie. Both were well done.
Hope is a town I want to return to again again.

Out of the first two books, I liked this one a lot better. The ending was equal, with both partners willing to make concessions for each other. Burton is an uneven author for me, but these are the types of books that make me keep reading.
Logan McCormack can't turn down the money that a movie company offers for use of his land. He's got enough of it, it's not like he'll even know that they're there. But then he meets Desieree Jenkins... and his opinion changes.
Des is a major motion picture star. But she is also down-to-earth. Which is what attracts Logan to her. But can it keep them together?

He's a dick, she's a moron.
Didn't like this... thought it was shallow to the nth degree.
Can't even be bothered to say any more than that.

Read it in less than a day. Once upon a time this would not have been an achievement but these days it definitely is!
I love, love, loved the heroine, Des, in this story. She spoke her mind (not in a mean way), went for what she wanted, treated everyone with respect, was extremely honest and loyal. As for our hero, Logan, of course he was wonderful...we know that from meeting him in book one. But the chip on his shoulder was bigger than the whole state of Oklahoma.
I enjoyed how much Des understood why Logan did certain things and would call him on it, but she still wouldn't stand for it. I'm not sure how much that sentence makes sense, but I understand what I mean. Logan was definitely an alpha male, maybe a bit too much at times. But as the reader there are things you are privy to that the hero is not so I tried to see things from his point of view when his jealousy would seem a bit much.
I'm sure the way things ran on this "movie set" were nothing like real life. I was okay with that because it wasn't too unbelievable and it moved the storyline. And what do I know anyway? I don't work in movies.
I'm glad I decided to read this series, it has definitely gotten me excited about Jaci Burton's writing again.

I wavered between 2 and 3 stars on this one. Ultimately I went higher because I did really like Des and her friends. I also think this one suffered a bit because of timing. I read and loved [b:It Happened One Wedding|18136549|It Happened One Wedding (FBI / US Attorney, #5)|Julie James|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1393398545s/18136549.jpg|25477993] recently and I'm feeling nostalgic for LA while watching the world cup. It all leads to me not being in the mood for the "small towns are the bestest" type romance. I've got no issues with romances that take place in small towns and I've enjoyed many, including the first in this series. But when they go on and on about how much better small towns are than anywhere else it just makes me gag and eye roll at the same time. This book did that a lot.
But I could have gotten over it if I liked the leads. As I mentioned Des really made the book for me and I liked her a lot. She's a pretty down to earth movie star but it's fiction so that's cool. I liked her interactions with her friends, both her old friends and the new friends she made in town. If I hadn't liked her so much this would have gotten two stars because I really couldn't stand Logan. He spends almost all of the book acting like an a-hole toward Des and then apologizing. Honestly, other than the sex I couldn't ever figure out what she saw in him. I really couldn't get past the day she worked the ranch with him. I understood why he was pushing her so hard but to find out that he bet against her being able to do it? Way to have faith in the woman you allegedly care about. I can get over that type of thing early in the book but it went on entirely too long for me and Logan just seemed like an ass through the whole thing.
I enjoyed the first one much more so I'll definitely give the next one a chance. But other than Des and her friends this one just wasn't so much for me.

I knew I was going to like Logan. Poor guy never knew what hit him, when he met Des. After growing up with a a horrible mother, who complained about ranch life, and left when he was younger, he was fine living on his own. He never thought he'd find a ranch wife. And when he met Des, he figured she was the farthest thing, so there was no harm in having a bit of fun. Well, the heart wants what the heart wants, and it wanted her.
It was perfect seeing him fall and then realize that he was holding on to the past hurts and not looking at Des as a potential partner.
I am enjoying this series and I can't wait til Molly's story next!!
