3.5 A light, fun, amusing read; Neville's characters always talk a good game, even if some of her plot moves come across as silly and/or overly contrived (could have done without the final, seemingly out-of-the-blue villain move).

Just under four stars. While I like Cynthia and Damien (and despite Damien being a complete horse's ass for much of the book), there seems to be an intuitive leap missing when the hero pinpointed the bad guy. I have read the next book in the series (Denford's book) but not the prior two (once again I'm reading a Neville series backward) so I may have missed clues from the first two.

Good moments and likeable heroine. The events in the last few chapters were quite abrupt.

In general, I'm not a fan of books where husband and wife are alienated from each other and then find themselves in love by the end. However, this book was very well written. Very well! Miranda Neville's phrasing is quite beautiful at times, engrossing me in the story!

There are a few things about the plot that I just didn't understand. Lord Windermere's hatred of Julian (it wasn't his fault he lost the house), for example. And the "mystery" at the end to carry into the next book seemed contrived and rushed. But there was a lot to really like about this book!

I didn't remember but I have actually read the first book in this quartet.

Judging by that fact, the fact I don't remember anything about it and the short review I wrote, I can say with certainty I didn't enjoy it very much.

'Lady Windermere's Lover' was actually enoyable enough and easy to read, even though the excessive and, may I say, unnecessary drama made it frustrating at times.

Also, that ending sucked. I did not like there were a lot of unfinished business, mainly between Damian and Julian, Damian and Radcliffe, Julian and Cynthia and the identity of the true villains.

More important than that, after all those misunderstandings we didn't even get to see a proper HEA between Cynthia and Damian.

The least the author could have done, particularly after all the drama surrounding the lost baby, would have been to bring up a second chance for them to be parents.

No luck there. One moment things were all messy and unstable between the couple, the next they were professing undying love and that was it.

A bit disappointing but good if you're looking for something light to pass the time.

I'd give it 2.5 stars, but rounded to 3 because I thought the writing was good. Overall the story was interesting and fun and had a decent plot, but at the same time, boy did I HATE the hero. Just a complete ass who was so self-centered and really cared more about himself than anyone else. And like his "tragic backstory" that made him the way he is... kinda his fault. For about 95% of the book I found myself rooting for the other man in the story, rather than the hero, which I don't think has ever happened to me while reading before. Above all else, i still think the hero is an unmitigated ass and the heroine deserved better.

neville's writing is improving with each book, but i couldn't give this one more than three stars even so. the hero was just so cruel, and i don't believe the narrative made him work hard enough for his redemption.

I enjoyed this one. I think this is only the second one I've read from this author, but I look forward to reading more. I don't super love this one, but it was definitely an entertaining read for sure.
