Some stories, like the eponymous Great Shark Hunt, and the Kentucky Derby one, are absolute classics. However, many of the gems get caught in between long stretches of relatively boring political coverage. I'd recommend it, though, especially if you aren't averse to picking and choosing among the best pieces.

I really loved a lot of the stuff in here - particularly the Super Bowl piece, the Oscar Zeta Acosta piece, the Muhammad Ali piece - but somehow this doesn't hang together as a unified whole quite well enough. And hell, maybe it isn't supposed to, and it's my judgement that's fucked, that's entirely possible. Even likely, considering the range of stuff in here. But whatever. It's still Hunter, so it's worth reading.

Postcards from the 1960s alongside analysis of that decade's sequels. Powerful and deliberate with a certain kind of honesty. What better voice to record all this.
