I’m glad I only got the sample of this book. The writing is so juvenile and cheesy. No thanks.

Amazing! This story follows Maggie whose long term relationship hit a snag when her boyfriend Dirk moved to London for work while she stayed in Cambridge. After four years together her boyfriend seems to be dodging her calls and distancing himself from her. In an effort to repair their relationship and possibly convince him to propose, she books them a holiday getaway in the remote town of Hollydell Scotland. When Dirk misses his train to meet her at their destination she begins enjoying the Christmas festivities without him, meeting all the locals including the very handsome Henry who runs the reindeer farm. Will Dirk make it to the quaint village? Or will Maggie find what she’s been missing in Hollydell?

This holiday romance was truly a Hallmark movie in a book. I absolutely loved this clean, fluffy, Christmas romance!

This was a very enjoyable read, when it comes or Christmas reads nothing beats this type of book, the characters in Hollydell are all friendly and you get to know them more as the book goes on so you become even more invested in them. Admittedly I did want to strangle Maggie at times due to her not wanting to admit what was really happening to her relationship, but I also get not wanting to admit defeat until the bitter end. I love the traditions and the mystery behind some on the townsfolk and how they embrace everyone who visits which ensures many appear to have made coming to Hollydell a solid yearly tradition of their own. Now Maggie has the choice to enjoy her holiday and see where things go with a special someone in town as well as enjoy being part of festivities or wallow in misery about Dirk the Dic... ahem well you know what I mean!

First in series - Delightful Christmas / First by author - C.P. Ward
Audiobook (All of my entries on The Story Graph are audiobooks.)
Why I added this book to my TBR pile: For a long time, I had Christmas at the Marshmallow Cafe on my list, but when I added it to my Christmas reading list, I saw that it was #4 of a series, so I started with book one.
Will I read more of the series / author?     Probably Not     Maybe    Highly Likely
It was kind of a sickly sweet story, but full of Christmas magic. I rolled my eyes a bit, but it also made me smile.
The narrator was Penny Wyatt-Gold. It took me a while to get used to the narrator and I had to listen at an accelerated speed, but it turned out okay.

There are chunks of story missing and then the books ends before any of the rising action is resolved.
So disappointing
