What a fun romp of a story! Loved the characters. Wish the romance had been developed a bit more. The pig fantasy was silly and cute.

While being a little text-heavy, this cute graphic novel manages to stay light on themes and it's a quick read. I appreciated the depiction of the NA's struggles in searching for jobs and friends' quarrels. But for a romance story, it lacked some development of the relationship with the love interest.

Oh my gosh, this story was just too cute and I was hungry for more!

I've been wanting to get into more comic books/graphic novels and the cover pulled me in right away. And as soon as I read the synopsis, I had to get my hands on this.

I loved that we see all of Ben's struggles with what he wants to do next in his life, a while how it affects everyone surrounding him. Being pulled between writing and cooking, will there be a way to balance both for a future career.

Being the romance lover that I am, I was very happy with the little side story between Ben and Liam.

Chef's Kiss was a fun and quick read with the right amount of romance fitting for this story. The artwork is absolutely stunning and now that I know Jarrett has a cookbook, I'll be on the lookout for that. This comic made me so hungry!

Oh my gosh! This book!

I loved everything about this book - the plot, the characters, the artwork!

I especially loved the character development for Ben as well as his relationship with Liam.

Basically this book is teeth-rotting sweet!

Thanks to Oni Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this to review! Apparently 2022 is going to be the year of graphic novels and comics, which I have no complaints about. It’s pretty much all I’ve read in 2022 so far, and I’ve definitely found some great ones so far!

As someone who also graduated college with an English degree and struggled to find that full-time job, Ben’s journey is so relatable. As I think it will be for anyone in my generation. Especially as Ben gets rejection after rejection because they deem he doesn’t have enough work experience. If you’ve looked for any kind of full-time career position in the last few years, this will likely be relatable to you, too.

I also thought the romance in this was super sweet and not too fast moving. Ben and Liam have great chemistry on the page, and it’s definitely a kind of slow burn romance. Ben’s little friend group is also awesome, and I felt that most of the characters in the book were fully fleshed out. Despite the unsuccessful job hunt situation, Ben’s after college set up seems pretty nice!

My only complaint about this graphic novel is that it got really wordy at times. I think the writer might have thought that the cooking scenes needed a lot of explanation, but we could have gotten away with less words, I think. I found myself skimming some of the explanations throughout.

All in all, if you’re looking for a cute graphic novel romance to read this summer, definitely check this one out! Especially if you’re a recent college grad looking for that elusive full-time job. You’ll definitely find a kindred spirit in Ben.

Well, that was adorable. Maybe a bit wordy at times, but still adorable. And relatable! Stay tuned for a full review to come soon!

WOW

I was absolutely blown away by this graphic novel!

Chef's Kiss is the story of Ben, who, having recently graduated with an English degree, is entering the job market with some uncertainties. Interview after interview, he comes to terms with the struggle of finding a job right after graduation. He ends up landing a position in a local restaurant, where his cooking skills have to be tested before he can officially assume the role of cook.

I really enjoyed the exploration of friendships, parental relationships, queer love, pressure to find a job, and deviating from one's path. This graphic novel has lovable characters, including a food critic pig, great banter, and serious conversations about adulthood and interpersonal relationships. It's definitely one of my favorite reads of the year so far!

Thanks to NetGalley and Oni Press for providing me with an ARC of this book! All opinions are my own.

A sweet, light story of a new college grad who discovers a passion for cooking (and meets a handsome sous chef) at an unusual restaurant. It’s fairly chaste — nothing more graphic than a smooch and some hunky shirtlessness.

I had fun, and romance readers from middle school on up will too.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Oni Press for letting me read this ARC. #ChefsKiss #NetGalley
