Stay foolish, stay procrastinating.
It's a very (sometimes too) detailed biography of the arguably the most accomplished Italian at all times. He's not only a painter, but a musician, a stage technician, an engineer, an inventor, and even a city planner at one point. Listening to the audiobook is a bit of torture, since one needs often refer to the pdf that was NOT included with my library loan (and I have to find it on Audible to download it). But yes, this is a book I'd recommend and one day collect.

I almost gave up this book over the long detailed description of painting. It was not great when you read this on ebook. However it was a good read, the author clearly spent time to do it's research and adds some great insights. It also a book that inspire, making you more curious and thirsty of knowledge.

A bit redundant at times and only giving a surface level analysis of the art, this is a fairly comprehensive and readable breakdown of the genius, and humanity, of one of the most iconic figures of Western history.
I gave this 4, rather than 5, stars as I’m not the biggest art person so a lot of the details were lost on me. I did love learning more about da Vinci though, and what made him such a genius. His innate curiosity was super interesting to learn about, and it really explains how he was able to gather and synthesize so much information in so many realms. His deeper understanding of nature, science, politics and philosophy drove the timeliness of his art. I learned so much and have a greater appreciation for his more popular works (i.e. Last Supper, Mona Lisa).
Why’d I pick this? I love Walter Isaacson’s other work, like the biography of Steve Jobs, and this was an available audiobook

Panejojojojo!

fascinating read that connects Leonardo’s art with his scientific explorations, showcasing his boundless curiosity. Isaacson’s writing makes complex topics easy to understand, and the inclusion of Leonardo’s notebook entries offers intimate glimpses into his genius. The book debunks common myths, presenting a balanced view that highlights both Leonardo’s talents and flaws. This biography emphasizes the importance of curiosity and interdisciplinary thinking, making Leonardo’s ability to merge art, science, and technology incredibly inspiring. Overall, Leonardo Da Vinci is a captivating, insightful read that I highly recommend to anyone interested in the life of one of history’s greatest minds.
