I loved this one. The best book between both series so far. The development that Sera and Ash make in their relationship but also in themselves is amazing. Jennifer Armentrout does a great job of showing these sweet intimate thoughtful moments in between hot and sexy passionate scenes.

The mix of adventure through exploring more of illeseeum, swoon-worthy romance, and anticipation for how they would develop a plan to defeat Kolis had me unable to put it down.

The betrayal at the end and the revelation of truths was so wild and sets up the next book. I’m excited to see how the series will unfold.

Okay, the love for these characters that I have felt is insane. The characters are amazing, the plot is amazing, somehow I was hardly able to predict anything that happened in this book. Whether that be a good thing or a bad thing I did thoroughly enjoy it as it was always a surprise. These two books in the series so far have both made me need to put the book down and think about what I just read, made me kick my feet in the air and giggle when something sweet happens, and they've also made my hands tremble as I cry. Specifically this book!!! Now I will say, this book did not need to be 651 pages long. I swear there was a good 200 pages at least that could've been boiled down to 1 single chapter. I did get bored half way through and had to start another book but even while doing that, I still just wanted to continue reading about Sera and Ash. The characters are so wonderful and they have not left my mind since I picked up that first book 2 weeks ago. This book put me through a rollercoaster of emotions and so did the ending. I had to get up and take a walk to just digest it. Regardless, I love this series and you best believe I have that 3rd book preordered and no trick or treating will be happening for me this Halloween as I will be in Iliseeum <3

I really like this series of JLAs. I do think it’s kind of repetitive of the FBAA storyline and characters, BUT I think that’s okay because I kind of like this story better. And I think it also helps show the parallel between Sera and Poppy’s stories since they’re ultimately connected and related.

This story started off slow and I felt like they were having a lot of sex (don’t get me wrong I love shut), but there wasn’t much plot development. It did pick up in the last half and once that happened I had a hard time putting the book down. The ending kind of snuck up on me and I felt left a lot of plot lines and points open that I thought would be resolved but I guess that’s because there’s going to be another book lol so I’ll just wait to find out! Overall it was a good story and plot with a twist at the end I wasn’t expecting, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

I always feel so conflicted about rating the books in this series. The writing is average and repetitive, but the overarching plot is intriguing enough to always keep me coming back for more. If there's one thing JLA is good at, it's a cliffhanger that insures you'll be reading the next book. At this point I'm in it for the long haul.

I'll start with what I liked about this installment in the FBAA/ASITE series:

- Nyktos and Sera are the embodiment of enemies to lovers, and you just can't beat that.
- Slowly piecing together the connections between the past and present is really satisfying.
- The spice is 🔥
- Plenty of conflict and character development
- Sera is unambiguously plus-sized and still badass

What I didn't like:
- The use of modern words and phrases is starting to get annoying. It pulls me out of the story and disrupts the flow. One character actually said "I nope'd out of the chamber" 🤦🏻‍♀️
- There are so many side characters (primals, gods, godlings, etc) That I honestly can't keep track of who is who, their titles, and what they look like. People would die, and instead of being upset I thought "who was that again?"
- SO REPETITIVE. Things I'm tired of hearing:
•I don't know why but her use of the word 'clamped' got on my nerves (it's used 16 times in the book) if I heard "my mouth clamped shut" or "pressure clamped my chest" one more time I was going to lose it.
•"Are you reading my emotions?" IT'S OBVIOUS NYKTOS IS READING YOUR EMOTIONS SERA, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASK EVERY FIVE MINUTES.

This was brilliant - I loved the slow burn and angst between Sera and Nyktos.
The ending was very unexpected! I cannot wait for the next book!!! I have theories though….
I think that because Sera has Sotoria’s soul she will ascend when Nyktos removes the embers (because we know from the blood and ash series that he was successful). I think Sotoria will sacrifice her soul and die to save Sera… and I think Nyktos and Sera are heartmates and I think this will restore/has already restored his kardia
