You know when you read a book at just the right time and everything just clicks? That was this book for me. I’m at a loss for words right now and I want to just sit in all the feelings that this book brought with it.

I loved that this book was messy and didn’t shy away from all the scary and hard things that life has to offer. It was also filled with so much love and the space to find yourself. And Grace was just the character that I needed in this story. I loved that she was allowed to have an existential crisis (I felt that all the way to my bones). I loved that Grace was able to let herself sink as far as she needed to before finding the help she needed. And while I might not have agreed with her cutting all communications with her support system, I think she did what she needed to.

One of my other favorite things about this book was the friends/roommate! All of them were amazing and I loved that they just created their own little queer family. Also, Yuki is so cool! I would give anything to listen to a podcast like hers.

All in all, this was an amazing book. And it fully deserves every ounce of praise its gotten and so much more. Honey Girl is getting a five out of five stars from me.

I thought it was a great story of figuring out who you are once you are on your own and away from your parents. It’s interesting that she was her truest self intoxicated and then had to come around back to that self sober and found it so much harder to do. I think the love story is sweet, not enough of it in the book in my opinion. But it’s not really a romance per se. It’s a finding your place in the world and your tribe kind of book. I enjoyed it but it was something where I zoned out sometimes and didn’t feel like I needed to go back to understand what was happening.

ok i loved this book so much
the diversity of characters, the lgbtqia+ romances (including some polyamorous too!!), the reflections on how it is to be a black woman in certain careers, ugh i could go on and on. this is a MASTERPIECE!!!
i really enjoyed the development of grace’s character (MC) and how she was able to acknowledge that her feelings are valid and how she is able to bring that into her day to day life and i just found the entire process of said development to be quite inspiring
again, absolutely loved this book and would for sure read it again in a heartbeat

I went into this thinking it was going to be a light and cute romance (kind of like what happens in Vegas but diverse) because that’s what people kind of pitch this as. This was a lot more serious then I wanted and I wasn’t in the headspace to read about certain topics discussed in this. I did really like Grace and the growth she went through and I liked her friendships. The romance was so instalove and not a main point at all. I do appreciate the diversity(race and sexuality), but this wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. If this does sound like something you would like then I do recommend you pick this up!

If you like character driven novels with a slow burn, you will love this. This story is about Grace Porter. Recently graduated with her doctorate in astronomy, wakes up in Las Vegas, married to someone she doesn't know.

This story isn't at all what I was expecting.  It was outside my genre comfort zone. The writing was beautiful.  It was much more serious than I was expecting.  I loved the found family, and the way the author handled mental health issues. I liked the second half much more than the first. I liked that the main characwas closer to 30 and out of college. That is an age geoup that isn't as commonly written. It is very much worth the read.

Put me into a reading rut. Maybe I'll come back and finish it someday. I did like it, but it was too heavy for me at the moment.

beautifully written. explores the struggles of identity through race, class, education in such a touching way. however, i found the ending a bit rushed and unsatisfying
