For college students of color struggling with racism and college burnout, this is the book for you or maybe not depending on how close you are to dropping out. I need to emphasize that if you are looking for a romance, this not the book for you because while the romance does take up a lot of the book, the book is definitely way more focused on Morgan's struggle with burnout and systemic racism in academia.

I adored Morgan so much as a primary protagonist and I wanted to watch her get the help she needed so desperately. While I didn't always like her choices, I always understood why she made those decisions. I loved her interactions with her friends and family and loved the way the book discussed how those relationships can be both provide support and pressure when moving through academia.

The emotional journey of this book is just phenomenal, I love how the romance supports it, and I cannot recommend this book enough.

This is a really good book. A beautiful character piece that follows Grace in her major crisis.
It wasn’t particularly my taste, but I appreciate the views and struggles that it showed me. I’m not big on sad books that don’t have a lot happening in them. Nonetheless, I’m glad I finally read this.

I really enjoyed this. It was not at all what I expected but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. I do feel that the secondary characters needed to be a bit more fleshed out but I do think this may have been a deliberate writing choice to reflect the nature of the protagonist.

This was a really really lovely dive into character/personal growth and identity. The prose was simply gorgeous, and the characters are so wonderfully complex and real. I really enjoyed the balance of romance with personal growth and familial/friend relationships. No one's perfect, no one's a villain; we're all just trying our best and failing each other and ourselves sometimes, but we can always grow and do better. We can do best, whatever that looks like for us.

These lonely creatures absolutely stole my heart ❤❤
