This book is a D&D themed merthur fanfic wrapped in a bisexual-disaster-fantasy-rom-com shaped trench coat.
I say this with the most love I could give.
So This is Ever After has joined In Deeper Waters as one of my go-to comfort reads! If you enjoyed FT Lukens other books I definitely recommend this one. It's silly and chaotic, but like all good rom-coms in such a warm fuzzy-blanket sort of way.
ALSO this is the prettiest book on my shelf, and will probably remain as such for a looooong time. It looks good online but is STUNNING in person.

I will say I while do wish we got to see a bit more of Matt (the love interest) and the book does really rely heavily on the miscommunication trope (a trope normally I LOATH) I still really enjoyed every moment reading this book and the characters' relationship with each other.

Okay I LOOOOVED everything about this, loved the nods to TTRPGs like Dungeons and Dragons, Loved the idea of "what happens AFTER you complete the quest" and LOVED the cute little romance even though it suffered quite a bit from the much hated miscommunication trope. But I think I loved everything else so much that I was able to stay on board and have a great time still!

It’s a wattpad story thrown into a book. It felt like I was reading a dnf watt pad story.

This is definitely a character driven silly rom com of a book in a teen fantasy setting. I quite enjoyed it, though if your looking for complicated details and high fantasy this is not the right book. If you’re looking for relationships and drama and a kid trying to be king, this is the one.
