These were some interesting vignettes. The first one felt the most complete. While the rest left you wishing for a true conclusion. One of the stories leaves you with the main characters separate, on opposing sides of a war, and the hero about to challenge for leadership of his group.
With that LARGE knock out of the way, these stories were well written, and you quickly bought into the characters' lives and motivations. I truly wish Ms. Masten would flesh these stories out and give them the endings they deserve.
