Not a fan of dramatized readings, plus the overarching political and religious themes were not to my liking.

Ada Palmer is probably my favorite author who's currently writing. and I love her Terra Ignota series. They're pure science fiction but rich with history, philosophy, ethical debates... I've read them all in text format, and I decided I would try them as audio dramas. The first one was eye-opening: brilliantly acted, with supporting music and sound effects.
I would STRONGLY recommend reading the book first, to have more of an idea of what's going on and who everyone is; however, as a companion to the first half of the first book, the audio was perfection. The actor portraying Mycroft Canner was particularly good.
