Book 2 of this series picks up rapidly after the ending of Book 1. Lila is once again isolated and locked away. She feels she is slowly going insane and is seeing ghosts who wish her harm. Unfortunately, Samael doesn't trust or believe her. After all, she tried to kill him. But the sexual tension and chemistry between only seems to grow. Lila learns she isn't what she believed and is a truly fierce creature who is powerful and dangerous. Will Samael be able to override his desire to kill what she is and what she becomes.
The plot is fast-paced and full of twists and turns. There is a traitor in their circle, and they must find them before it is too late. I found this addictive and fun. I was completely invested in both characters. I rapidly devoured this book.

I loved the prologue and how we got to see the events unfold to see how they ended up where they were. I liked Lila in this one and watching her learn about her history and background. I do wish this had more action like book 1 it seems like this was a bit slower until it ramped up at the end.

Getting bored of these characters and definitely not a fan of their toxic relationship.

all those secrets

I'm invested... I need to know how it ends. But the slow burn is killing me.

I always find it frustrating when scenes are put in books twice. I wish, if the beginning is to get us to delve deeper that enough to captivate us was said and that then we got a different view of it once it happened.

I love how it toes in the Raven King and how much duality we get to see from all the characters. They have each grown in their own way. Acorns, fruit tarts, coffee with cream + whiskey and all.

It keeps you guessing. although I figured one of the secrets out before Lila figured it out. Everything, all the answers were looking at us the whole time. And yet we glossed over them until the author wanted us to know.. magical.

This book was another fantastic novel and I really enjoyed it. Carrying on from the first novel Lila is in prison facing the aftermath of her actions in the first book and follows her journey to want to redeem herself in the eyes of Samael. I really enjoyed reading about Lula as her chemistry with Samael was so hot, I loved it. It’s definitely a slow burn romance but it is worth the journey. The twists and turns were gripping and I was kept on my toes the whole time, wanting to flip the pages and read what happens next.

Well, this one was a bit of a let down after how much I loved the first book in the trilogy. It was much too short and didn’t develop as it should, not allowing for enough of the magic and world to build in a way that made sense. I liked the dark character development of Samael, but that was truly the most redeeming factor.

Didn't love the first one but still felt compelled to keep going and find out what happens next so definitely a point up for that. Lila became so much more enjoyable to read this time around and her humour was great. I still do feel though that most of the characters are a bit so so, I wanted to love them but they just didn't get enough page time for that.

I enjoyed the build up to finding out some of the secrets from the first book and the pace was certainly much better than book one.

I still stand by what I said with the first book in that I wish the author had cut out some of the unnecessary bits and just stuck the books together, I think it would have been a much more enjoyable read.

I’m gonna start this by saying was this the best book series I’ve ever read? No. Was I highly entertained through the whole thing? Yes. Did I almost dnf the first book because the heroine was on my last nerve? Also yes. Do I think you should read it? Yes. Will this review make any sense? Probably not
