A fast paced fantasy, moving through several Londons. Some embracing and some shunning magic. Through these worlds strides Kell a magician who is searching for his meaning and purpose. A good read that pulls the reader into what will be a good series.

Hands down!
This is really good! I Love this and the whole flow is GREAT!
The characters, the world-building, The suspense everything is perfect. we are on dark on everything then suddenly things get complicated. It only gets better with each chapter.
Couldn't put it down!

Spoiler alert:
The MC, Kell:
At the end of the first chapters, I had a bigger picture of him. I saw him as a lonely man who lost his home in the past and found comfort in magic (and smuggling) which I think for him seemed to be like the closest to what he can call home or his origin.
we get glimpses of his relationship with other characters in critical scenes: like how only when the other Antari is dying do we get to see the feelings and the connection between those two of a kind. The portrayal of the scene is impactful. I was unable to bring myself to hate Holland, at the same time, not loving him.
Everything Holland did seemed to be done because he had no choice but to do it. I guess, his character falls for now in the grey characters list. (I keep thinking that, perhaps, he is still alive. it was never mentioned he died, it only said that he had a weak beat.)
Kell, Rhy, and Lila are my favs. Can't imagine the story without them.
And especially Rhy, I want to see more of him in the other books!
Beloc part in the book was the most emotional. It shows how much that city was beyond saving. However, at the same time, there is hope Since someone is still willing to fight the injustice, though it is a young boy.

My thoughts Finishing this:
That was fantastic! I said it already but I absolutely adore Rhy Kell and Lila. I just want to protect them

DNF @ 50%. Sadly this book did not seem special to me. The characters seemed flat and the story plot sounded interesting but dragged on.

The pace of the book was very slow until it started to pick up at around p 170. I enjoyed it and I loved the characters a lot however I thought the plot because somewhat basic eventually
