This book is the definition of a perfect horror book. The plot coudve been predicted but it turned out to be even worse! The writer described the characters pain perfectly and described details in a perfect way. Definitly a 5 star read.

I really liked this retelling. I think it was an interesting exploration of the original story. The mystery aspect was kind of easy to guess but I didn’t mind that.  It was cool to see the characters figure out what you’ve already put together. I really thought that the way the mysterious aspects of the original were explained was also cool. However I thought the ending was a little anticlimactic and rushed. Overall it was a good short read I’d recommend

This novella is a retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher and follows the same broad strokes of that story's plot. This is a horror story and does have some creepy parts, but there's an overall cheerful tone to most of it that makes it a quick easy read.

Very interesting premise and nice execution! I finished this slim book in a day and thoroughly enjoyed its chilling mycological atmosphere.

I was delighted by "What Moves the Dead" from the start. I love the sarcastic writing style and the characters (Easton, Miss Eugenia Potter, Hob the horse!!!), and the non-binary history is brilliantly integrated. This develops into a properly creepy tale, but I guess that just like with the original "The Fall of the House of Usher", the ending feels a little... too easy? It makes sense for a retelling, of course, but I feel like so much more could have been explored if it hadn't been pushed into the mould of the old classic (mould pun not even intended).
