i was loving this story so much, flying through the pages, but unfortunately the ending was very underwhelming. i was ready for the main character to go full on unhinged to get her revenge, but even if that couldnt be the correct ending, i think there are many other ways it could’ve ended. 4 stars because i was having a good time though

the last page and a half did not need to be there tbh

Whoa that was dark. Like a more realistic version of They Never Learn by Layne Fargo. And now I’m off to watch Promising Young Woman to feel more rage at the lack of justice in the world toward wronged women.

this is a book set in philadelphia and thus i had to read it.

this was fine and on occasion it had some interesting thoughts but for the most part it was sort of just…. fine. dark academia tends to attract my attention very easily and so even though this had a low rating i wanted to give it a try and while i don’t regret reading this from the library, it also probably won’t stick in my brain very long. i think my biggest complaint is that it often feels a bit surface level, and the backdrop of 2016 is just like… okay. i guess we’re doing this. i can do pandemic novels but 2016 election novels are uhhhhh. not my cup of tea. in any case this isn’t bad but it’s also not anything i’d write home about and not to be silly but i wish they’d have mentioned wawa. and the audiobook narrator pronounce schuylkill weirdly which really threw me off but that’s a personal gripe. the resolution was Fine and very realistic and ultimately not very satisfying, so overall a kinda mid time, i guess
