Learn about the life, crimes, and how the I-5 killer was caught and tried for his crime in this classic true crime book.
This book was pretty good, but I wish there were an update after the 1980s. Also, the writing could be a bit dry in spots. I wish she'd given more personality to police officers and victims. She spent a lot more time talking about some of the victims than others. I felt like the mother and daughter who died should have gotten more time in the book.
An overall decent true crime book. But a bit scant on details of the lives of certain victims without explanation.

Typically, I find Ann Rule good but wordy. She takes books that could have been hundreds of pages shorter and stretches them out. But this was the opposite. It was pretty short and I never felt too bogged down. Of course, there were tons of triggers -- which should be expected given the topic -- but the hits kept coming. I can't believe I had never heard of this serial killer because his crimes are terrifying. Rule did a great job of telling his crimes, as well as giving a resolution to what happened and showed the detective work involved in finding him. An enjoyable true crime novel and it makes me want to pick up her book on Diane Downs.
