What better way to start the new year off than with some girl power? Ass-kicking awesomeness as per.

For the love of everything, can we get the old artist back? I'm not feeling this Quitely/Romita Jr esque art. America looks like a completely different person now.

This arc ends kind of abruptly and I'm not sure how I felt about it to begin with? I feel like it went from 0 to 100 really quickly and then all of the background for how America and Mags ended up in the ring was explained with Mag's dialogue to Kate. I almost think I would have rather seen the set up so the conclusion would feel worth it.

While I don't love this whole "be one with the astral plane" thing, if this become a book about America finding her people and getting to know more about her moms through Madrimar, I'm definitely here for that. I am really interested in seeing America find herself in her past and that is one aspect of the character that hasn't really been explored since the little bit in YA where they talk about the Demiurge.

I really don't know how to feel about the fact that this was yet another arc that kind of begins because of one of America's evil exes. Even with the explanation, I don't like Mags choices here and I don't think she's a great fit for America.

Also, I'm kinda bummed that this is the cameo we get from Kate. If it ends here, that is unfairly short. They have amazing chemistry and I just want to see them together forever. (And not just because I ship it).

America: You're my ride or die, Kate Bishop
Kate: How 'bout we be each other's ride and survive?
America: Yes. Forever that.

The Best Of: America #6

1. Though it is against her will, America sitting in the corner of Ka boxing ring (hoodie, boxing gloves, and a high bun) is such a mood. She is the savior we all need.

2. Kate trying to save America and then being pissed off that America got taken in the first place. "You-You're supposed to be invincible , okay? Like, that's part of the rebel-dream-girl-magic-best-friend thing, damnit!" Also, her just wanting to take America back to her place and let her do her pull-ups.

3. Even though it's not great and technically against their will, I love a good fight scene between two women of color where both are ripped and blood's involved.

4. Kate and Mysterious Older Woman bursting in and fighting like badasses to save America. Hella yes!

5.
America finding out that Mysterious Older Woman is her abuela. America's entire arc has been about how she doesn't have family or any kind of ancestry to fall back on, and this reveal just makes me so happy for her.

6. Madrimar holding America in her arms, forehead to forehead, as she teaches her how to power stomp, which is also an amazingly cool move.

7. Amercia and Madrimar's conversation after the power stomp. God, does Gabby Rivera want us to cry?

8. Kate being an overprotective best friend and having a post-fight conversation with Magdalena. Everyone should have a best friend like Kate Bishop.

9. Kate and America once again being great best friends and Kate giving America a pep talk. "You're my ride or die, Kate Bishop." "How 'bout we be each other's ride and survive?"
"Yes, forever that."

10. Any great comic ends on a cliffhanger...
