I really liked this short story by Mel Teshco. I will emphasize short story. I know people get upset about that but for me personally short stories are great when you don't have time to read a novel or when it is an introduction into the authors imagined world. This story hit the spot. Do I think more world building would have been nice? Sure but I also think she gave what was promised in a free short story. I will definitely be going out to read the other books in this series. I love Mel Teshco books and this one was no exception. Kadin is a dragon (alien species) with Grace being a Paranormal Agent. That being said is why they shouldn't be together. But... there is always a But...I never give spoilers. Read for yourself.

I was enjoying this and then it just ended.
Yes I know books have to end but this one ended so abruptly and in the oddest way that I was taken by surprise. Shame really as I really was enjoying it.

KADIN by Mel Teshco is the prequel to the science fiction alien romantic suspense series, Dragons of Riddich. The concept behind the story line had great potential, but the novella did not live up to it. Grace Macintosh has the ability to sense paranormal beings and is an operative for the Paranormal Detection Agency. Her next target is Kadin Marres who has been aware of Grace for a while and wants her for his mate.

Unfortunately, the world-building was inadequate in this one. To understand even a small amount of what is going on and the world situation, you have to read half of the novel, and even that is insufficient to understand why paranormals are being pursued. It felt like there was a book that should have come before this one.

Grace’s acceptance of Kadin’s remarks and her actions do not seem realistic. She was not the strong protagonist that I expected. However, the paranormal shifter’s transformation is a more believable event than in many novels. There is plenty of action, some suspense, and a few steamy scenes as well in this book.

Overall, this was a read that did not live up to my expectations. 1.5 stars rounded up to 2 stars due to the potential the story line had. I don’t plan on continuing the series.

Characters where banging in the first chapter and that's not what I want in a romance

I don't know how to rate this. I giggled through the whole thing. This is definitely not my type of read, but anything for a book challenge....well almost everything. I probably won't read a book like this again for a long time

2 stars for so-bad-it's-good entertainment

An NBRC Tower Teams Quidditch classic :)

I actually like Kadin the dragon but otherwise yikes. Intimate scenes were dialogue painful and this takes insta-love to a whole new level.

I was so excited about this book I read it the moment I saw it land on my Kindle because ya know ... dragon shifter! It's like my version of romance novel catnip.

Mel Teshco has created a fascinating world where paranormal creatures are hunted and dragons are from an alien planet. Ms Teshco has also done an amazing job of some excellent world building in a very short novella to set the scene for the Dragons of Riddich.

Of course, I was predisposed to love Kadin since well, ya know .. dragon shifter. He's everything a sexy dragon shifter should be and then some! I loved all the special abilities that Ms Teshco gave him. Made things super fun.

Grace took me by surprise since she was originally sent to assassinate (I think? it was not clear) Kadin but ends up falling for him instead (of course!). There's the whole dragon mating thing going on to explain the insta-lust which works just fine for me. Her back story was also very interesting and I found myself wondering right through the book who she was, what her motivations were and why they were being hunted. The big reveal is eye opening, to say the least.

I almost forgot to mention ... this book is raunchy. Ms Teshco knows how to put a lot of sexy, steamy into less than a hundred pages! And Kadin, well, he does the kind of sex I like to read about. Phew! Did it get hot in here?

This is a great start to the series and I can't wait for the next book because ya know ... dragon shifter. Do you think I've mentioned "dragon shifter" enough for you to know I love them? :-)

Write fast, Ms Teshco.

Kadin is the first book in the Dragons of Riddich series by Mel Teshco. It’s a sci-fi/paranormal romance- with sexy alien dragon shifters, action, drama, intrigue and betrayal.
This is a novella length story- which makes it a very quick and easy read. I enjoyed this story so much- I really wished it was longer, so I could have spent more time with the characters and their story. The story is great and Grace & Kadin have fantastic chemistry- making for some sizzling hot reading.
Ms. Teshco has packed a lot into a small space- and showcases some very creative and top-notch world building!
I won’t go into detail her, as the story is quite short and I don’t want to give anything away- anyway, the blurb gives a brilliant rundown of what to expect.
Bring on the rest of the series!!
