This is the first time I read a book with an Aro-Ace protagonist and I ended up enjoying it more than I expected. While I might not identify with either of those identities, I do get frustrated with our society's obsession with romance and how romantic love should be something we should all want and strive for. And I'm saying this as a reader and writer of the genre.

What caught my attention aside from the fact I have liked everything I have read from Alice Oseman so far, is the fact I wanted to learn more from the perspective of someone Aro-Ace. We don't get to see them tell their own stories from their own perspective very often. So when I read the synopsis, I knew I had to add this to my list of books to read this year. And I'm so glad this book didn't disappoint in the slightest.

This might not be a book about finding romantic love, but it is a book about love, especially love for friendships. I loved every single character, even in their rock-bottom moments. I wanted the best for each one of them and I wanted to see their friendships triumph. I have always loved how Oseman writes friendships in her books and this book was no exception. I giggled, sobbed, and screamed several times throughout this book. I wanted to hug them, especially Georgia, and tell them everything was going to be ok. I wanted to be there as they prepared for the play, I can't act for shit but I love Shakespeare too much to let the opportunity slide.

I hope to read more books with and from Aro and/or Ace people. It's always important to read from different lived experiences than our own, that way we can be more open and kind-minded.

I technically started this book two years ago when I learned about asexuality and thought that I might be asexual. I got about 60 pages in and decided to stop reading because it felt to real/relatable and I didn’t wanna acknowledge that part of me yet. Well two years later I am proudly aro ace and decided to come back to it. I devoured this book in one night. It was so easy to read and I enjoyed all the characters and I enjoyed the aro ace representation that we hardly ever get.  Overall an absolutely fabulous read by the wonderful Alice Oseman.

This book was amazing! I felt so seen and heard. I genuinely felt like Alice was in my brain when she was writing this book. I wish I had it when I was younger because it definitely would have explained so much and I think it would have made me feel less alone to read a book where I relate so much. I would totally reread this. I think this book has positively impacted me because after this I was able to think more about my own experiences and how I interact with people. And I think that when I am thinking about potential romantic partners, I think about what is something that I can tolerate? Can I tolerate engaging in behavior that I don't want to just because I feel like I have to? I think knowing that I can have separate relationships really helps. Like I knew that before, I knew that in theory, but I didn't really know that in practice and this book has definitely made me more comfortable within my own asexuality. It's made me more comfortable with accepting the fact that some people are okay with not touching! They just love you so much that they want to be with you regardless of whether or not kissing or sex is on the table. Again I knew that in theory. This book really solidified it for me gave me the validation that I needed. Personally going to give this a 5/5 because I would reread this and it has a special place in my heart because of how relatable it was and how it actually helped me.

The representation is this book is so important. This is a must read for any queer person struggling to find their identity. It was also a great story about friendship with really sweet moments.
