What a bunch of despicable people, the title is quite fitting. I enjoyed the flashbacks to moments that shaped their character, but the jumping between povs was sometimes confusing as well. The characters in general are absolutely aggrevating, selfish, and raise little sympathy with the reader, albeit one can understand the developments and how they turned out as such. The ending seems true to character, too.

A really interesting character study that explores manifestations of creativity and privilege in children ‘raised’ by a scarved dancer clearly inspired by Isadora Duncan.

By the author of my favorite book!

This edition had green printed chapter headers.

Pappy uses the word "directly" - like my dad.

A reference to Charing Cross Hospital.

"When I pack," said Pappy, "I pack for all eternity."

Another world. I wanted to get lost in that world and I did. Sometimes hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking. An enjoyable re-read.

Having read several of her novels by now, this is not her best work, but it does contain all the recipes of her writings, so I still enjoyed the read, hard as it was to root for anyone other than Celia (justice for Celia & Caroline!)
