Read the first book to this forever ago but was a cute catch-up with the characters told from a different perspective. Liked hearing about the places in Taiwan they visit

it's always a great feeling when a sequel lives up to the beauty of the first book.
things i wasn't a fan of:
-business politics/rich people hierarchical drama
-unnecessary drama that only happens in high school
things i absolutely loved:
♡the wholesome romance
♡character growth
♡self-acceptance
♡acceptance from family
♡importance of art
♡discussions on dyslexia
♡atmospheric writing
♡depth of each character

Okay so admittedly I was NOT into this when I first started. I should mention that its been a long time since I'd read the first one so I was just annoyed by the characters and what was going on, and just wasn't interested the way I wanted to be. Fortunately I pushed through and got invested. I liked the conversations that the book had and where things went in the end.
The biggest issues that I had with it was around common YA tropes, and since I'm technically not the target audience I'm rating it a star higher here than I would for myself. I did really like the second half of the book, the conversations, and how some things were handled so I think its a good book in general.

I read the first book and I was not expecting a sequel. But since one did come out I decided to read it. I liked reading it but at the same time I felt like it was somewhat unneeded.
