The author reads the audiobook and I recommend this format, her voice is soothing. Ive always thought this book sounding interesting but I wasn’t sure could read such a long nonfiction book about plants! I was wrong- this book is so much more than I anticipated. Theres definitely plant information but it’s shared through stories and the authors experiences- the actual information never felt too heavy. The chapter on Potawatomi language was incredibly fascinating- it’s probably my favourite part. I especially loved learning how in Potawatomi there are different kinds of hearing for animate vs inanimate objects or how there isn’t a word for please because sharing is assumed.  I also particularly liked the section on studying thriving sweet grass areas and its relationship to the people who harvest it. I strongly recommend this book to those curious how to carry home pecans without a bucket, diy maple syrup, or want to learn if beans have belly buttons!
