SOO good i loved the characters and i loved the way stone-in-the-glen came back to life and the centrality of books to the story...and it made me think about our world today too. like we haven't been driven apart in a way that makes us hate one another (trying to think of a duality for this -- an outward way to be driven apart?) but instead we've been isolated and driven apart in an inward sort of way. we talked about this a lot in this class i took last fall but it's like the way everything is so easy to do online now.. like the richer you are the less you'll ever need to leave your house for a thing. and just like none of the people of stone-in-the-glen really know one another (because they're all scared of one another and feel as though everyone else is full of malicious intent) we too never really make connections with neighbors. like thinking of the books i used to read people would talk about bringing the new neighbors cookies...never have i once seen that in my life. and it just gets worse and worse every year i feel... and i am guilty of being scared of talking to strangers so i'm a hypocrite for writing all this. but yeah this book made me think about that a lot. and it was so good though i have 1 critique which is that it should have had illustrations
