“‘God’ I couldn’t help but laugh ’Can I just carry you around in my pocket all the time so you can keep showering me with compliments whenever I need them?’ ‘Yes’ Sam said immediately and then blushed”

“By the end, her eyes would be sparkling and everyone in the room would be a little bit in love with her, or maybe it was just me.”

LISTEN! Sam and Lily are so sweet!!! This is such a short read and it’s such a good time! It starts out in a karaoke bar and both narrators start out their first chapters recounting how they’ve noticed the other every time they saw each other at the bar…. That’s just the queerest thing I’ve encountered since I looked in the mirror 20 minutes ago. ALSO! I love the fact that Lily is plus sized and learned how to make clothes that were comfortable and fit her while Sam is newly out as non-binary and hasn’t really explored gender affirming clothes! I felt like I could picture a montage in a movie when that fact hit me! Love it!

Anita Kelly writes really lovely nonbinary characters, & steamy sex scenes, and this novella doesn't disappoint. The premise is lovely and the plot is straightforward - it blissfully doesn't shy away from fatness, fat trauma, body issues (for gender & non gender reasons), and exploration of gender expression.

Oh my God I love this little novella. Lily is fat, Sam is non binary they meet doing karaoke where they feel like the most confident selves, at least Lily does. The spice is spicing and it's just so wonderful I love it so much. Sam wants to play around with their clothes and how they express their gender, Lily makes clothes. It’s a match made in heaven.
