Every joke is at the expense of another whether it's ableist, elitest, fatphobic, racist or just downright rude! I didn't find any character loveable enough to care about and the name dropping of celebrities just got tiresome.

In all honesty, just watch the movie. It's so much better.

I found the main character in general very unlikeable and the book mainly consisted of her workplace abusing her in every way  possible. There were parts I enjoyed, but for me the pacing of the book was generally off. For a long time the plot didn't seem to be going anywhere and then the climax came at the very end of the book, which left me as a reader incredibly confused. It wasn't terrible, but I don't see myself picking it up again.

I couldn’t help comparing this to the movie while I was reading it, because that’s what I watched (and loved) first.
Purely as a book, this was a pretty solid middle of the road book. Didn’t hate it; didn’t love it - it’s just average for me.
The extra characters and depth for Andy was nice.
I missed a chance to see Miranda as a person rather than just a tyrannical monster but I understand that it wasn't really the point of the book.

The ending is basically the only good thing about this book. It does what it does really well - but man, do I hate Miranda. Also, firmly in the camp that Andi’s friends and family and boyfriend had every right to be pissed at her.

This is one of the very few times where I’d say the movie was better than the book. Way better. All the tension the movie had the book has none of, the characters are somehow less interesting, and the movie ending is much more satisfying.
You can read it if you want, it’s not a “bad” book, but it’s not really a “good” book either.
