I enjoyed this one but not as much as the first. It was still a beautiful story. There is a lot of growth from Iris in this book, and she seems to step into her own. I really wanted more from the whole god storyline. It seemed to flatline a bit. I think that’s why it took me so long to finish it.

But overall, both books together is a fabulous series. Each character has their own progress and change.

I do love a duology! It's such a perfect format - lots of time to dig into characters and world building while keeping pace with the plot! I liked the narrative framework that returned Iris and Roman to communicating via magical typewriters. I also loved the ending. Such a warm hug of a book!

Rebecca brings us an amazing story with a unique writing style. The characters growth throughout the story invites us to crave more of their love story, grit, and determination. Rebecca kept me on my toes wanting to know and learn more about the divines, their history, their rivalry, and what their future held. As for the ending I would describe it as a neatly tied bow, everything comes together in the end and leaves you satisfied.

I’ve heard many people say this, but I agree: this duology is perfect.
The action, the suspense, the deep love connection, the poetic prose, the triumph! The second novel gave a satisfying conclusion without being too cute.  It will take me a while to move on from this!

I really love Rebecca Ross’s writing and some her writing is quote-worthy. I enjoyed getting a deeper dive into the world of the divines, more background on the families of the main characters and I also liked the side characters. I did feel like some parts were drawn out more than were needed?? It felt like too much was covered in one book that at times it felt like I had been reading a long journey (which I guess it is) but that’s what makes it a 4 stars for me. Would def recommend this series though and I’m excited to read more of this authors books
