Not as suspenseful as other books I have read but I still enjoyed the read, it basically allows you to relate to a character on a realistic level. We expect women to do extraordinary things to be considered special and the reality is having to deal with life is an adventure on its own.

This was a fun light-hearted read. The main character is likeable but a little dramatic. As an amateur sleuth she is extremely lucky but does follow some logic in her thought process. I'll read more in this series when looking for something that doesn't require a lot of concentration and attention.

I actually enjoyed this book. It is a mystery. I guess that's my new genre. It was goofy, but I liked it.

This was a fun read, with an unexpected twist. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one.

This is a funny, quirky little mystery. I really liked the main character, Heather. The audiobook narrator was great too.

This is the first book I have read by Meg Cabot. I really enjoyed the book, it's not just a mystery there's a little bit of comedy througout. The main character is a former teen pop star, who now works as an asst residence hall director at New York College. Two girls turn up dead in a few days and both deaths are ruled accidential. Heather Wells is sure that the deaths are not accidential which leads into the mystery.

It was ok for what it was

I get it... 2005 was a different time, but it's a little cringe to read 18 years later. Hoping book 2 is a bit betterish.

I've read all of the Heather Wells books, and am so thrilled to find out that there will soon be another one in the series!

I loved Heather. She was likable, hilarious, and flawed in just the right way to make her completely relatable. Watching her interactions with Cooper were sometimes frustrating, but as always, Meg Cabot delivered all the way through the series. I just can't say enough good things about this series!! Recently, I've found that I really struggle with finishing series. I'll read the first book in a series, and then just don't feel quite motivated to move the next - it takes a lot to hook me in long enough to keep me reading.

But the Heather Wells books were enough to make me willingly lose sleep each night just to turn a few more pages.

It was lighthearted, funny, and even the murders had me guessing as to who the culprits could be. This entire series just had the perfect blend of everything a book needs to really grab you and keep you prisoner - and I wouldn't want it any other way!

Flowing throughout is Heather's inner monologue in which she ponders everything from vanity sizing, exercise (walking to your favorite bakery DOES count), the miraculous effects of chocolate and even the love of a good pet. This hilarious thought process is what kept me so intrigued, not the mystery. Mystery = Meh.
B+

This is the first in a new series about Heather Wells, a girl who became a famous pop star at age 15 and was then dumped from the label and by her boyfriend (the label president's son and another pop star). Her mother took all her money and fled the country, and Heather has gained weight and gets by working as an assistant hall director at New York College. Heather is put to the test in her new job when mysterious deaths in the elevator shaft begin occurring. The book is extremely silly and some phrases are overused ("Girls don't elevator surf!" and the distinction between residence hall and dorm, we get it already), but it's a fun, quick read for when you're not in the mood for something serious.
