I have had this book on my Kindle for ages and never quite got around to it, being mostly put off by the title. Then I borrowed it on audiobook from the library and was glad I did. This is one of those books that is perfect for listening to because it's easy and fun to listen to and it doesn't matter if you miss one or two lines here and there when you're listening in the car and yelling at someone who just pulled out in front of you.
I liked Heather as the main character. She was earnest and fun to listen to, though sometimes she obsessed over Cooper just a little too much. Plus the fact that she got an idea in her head and never once considered that she might be wrong, like when she was talking about who was her main suspect. It was as if it had never even entered her head that she might possibly be wrong. That being said, I liked Heather and the cast of characters, including Cooper. Jordan was a little bit of a dickweed, though I did feel sorry for him and I wish Heather would just get him to go away.
The plot was interesting enough, it seemed realistic that Heather would be involved in what had caused two girls to die like that and why the police didn't investigate something that looked like an accident. I didn't guess who was the murderer, though I had my suspicions about everyone, and I liked the big conflict right at the end and how it was resolved.
I did really wish everyone would shut up about Heather's weight. Apart from being none of their business, it got Heather to say that size 12 wasn't fat, it was the size of the average American woman about ten hundred times which was far more annoying in audiobook form than anything else.
Still, an enjoyable book and if the audiobook version of the sequel comes up at my library, I'll probably get it out. 3.5 stars!

Heather Wells, a former pop celebrity, has been dropped by her music label and is currently working for New York College in the hopes of being able to earn her college degree for free. When freshmen girls in the residence hall where she is assistant director start dying she suspects foul play and starts to investigate when no one will believe her.
This is a fun light read. The pacing of this novel is fast. You move quickly from one incident to the other trying to figure out the mystery with Heather.
Heather is a likable character who the reader has no trouble understanding. She is a former teen pop star who decided that she wanted to control the type of music she performed, and was dropped by her record label as a result. She takes a job as an assistant director of a residence hall with New York College in hopes of taking free classes after she passes her six month probation. When freshmen girls start dying from elevator surfing, Heather suspects something is up, but can't get anyone to believe her. Her character is believable and likable. She has an intense crush on her roommate Cooper, and some confusing about her ex-fiance Jordan. Her character is flawed, but that makes her more real.
Overall this, was an entertaining book that would be great for people who like their mysteries light, and humorous.

A cute mystery book about a former pop star who becomes the assistant resident advisor to a dormitory excuse me, residence hall. When her residents turn up dead in bizarre elevator accidents, she takes it upon herself to investigate when the police don't.
Has the Meg Cabot flair we all loved. Great beach read. Got a 3 because it was cute and I liked it but I didn't love it/wouldn't reread it.
Definitely want to see more of Cooper in the other books.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. I loved the humour and mystery, but got tired of the drama and emotional angst by the end.
Even though I'm Heather's age, the language was a little too young for me so while the story drew me in, the language was definitely a barrier for at least the first half of the book, which took me days to get through. Once I got a grip on the language though, the book moved really fast and I was hooked. It was a video book reading sesh with my best friend that allowed me to get a good grip on the book.
