I need to create a shelf called "life's too short for some books". This isn't a bad book, just not that engaging to me.

3.5 stars

This is such a fun light mystery series. It's got so much rom-com elements that's it's hard to not get completely suckered into the story. I loved Heather, Cooper, the entire cast of characters from the dorm - and surprisingly even Jordan. Just a fun quick read that really helps you get lost in a book.

I liked this one okay. I found some of it repetitious (like the number of times the main character said dormitory and then corrected herself to say residence hall). This happened about 62 times too often. I also listened to this as an audiobook and found the narrator's voice to be extremely squeaky. As far as the storyline, a classic whodunit, and I stuck with it to find out who! Now, will I read the next? Not sure...

This book should definitely have a different title. It just doesn't match the premise of the book. I wanted a quick read, didn't even read the back of the jacket, but should have. Turns out it is a murder mystery. And not even a well-written one at that. Another book where the girl whines about the boy of her dreams not loving her. Blah blah blah...

I got this book because I needed a break from the Daisy Dalrymple series, just to change it up. It is the first book a fun, frothy mystery series. The main character, despite being a former pop sensation, is someone with whom I can identify. Definitely on the PG13 side of things, but if you are looking for a breezy, brain-break book, I recommend it.

a very funny book despite the murder mystery.

A fun mystery.

I think Meg Cabot has come up with a cute idea for a mystery sleuth. An ex-pop star who has gained a couple of pounds and has to work because her singing career is non-existent. Heather, the ex-pop star, is such a fun character. I can't wait to read the others in the series.
