Stunningly beautiful book that reads like a family photo album. The families stories are distinct but intertwined.

It left me longing to hear more from the children who are now adults (there's are only three pages of the 103 that include voices of the citizens). I also wished for more stories pointing out the racism and classism that was mentioned in only two of the families' stories.

I appreciate that this format is accessible to many people for whom a more traditional academic history volume would not be, and this subtle-but-important access is illustrative of the change in view from living in communities which really do integrate all disabled citizens.
