Uncomfortable but clear-eyed look at power, ownership, and sex, through the eyes of a newly self-aware sex bot. Interrogates what it means to want to own someone just as much as what it means to be owned.

Psychological abuse in a relationship is much harder to identify then physical abuse. There are no visible marks but victims hurt nonetheless. The author’s way of Illustrating an abusive relationship of this kind in an AI / human relationship is genius. I enjoyed this book and felt for Annie.

Klara and the Sun meets The Stepford Wives.

Fair warning that there are pretty vivid descriptions of s*x and abuse (emotional and physical), and some scenes left me incredibly disturbed. However, they never felt gratuitous and in my opinion, actually moved the plot (sadly not something I can say about a lot of books).

Overall, this is a story about self discovery, freedom and how life always finds a way. Definitely recommend giving this a try and can’t wait to see what Sierra Greer writes next.
