What can I say about this book without giving too many spoilers?
The one word that is pushing to my lips is CUTE, which is pretty weird considering it's full of dirty sex scenes. Like common, I'm having really explicit content shove it up my face and the only thing I'm thinking is "aww, that's kind of sweet". I love the main couple because they were full sweethearts to each other, the age gap between me and them wasn't even a thing, they were just two guys falling in love. And the things that they gave each other, the things they did to make the other happy, the whole support... that's just freakin adorable and admirable.
I cannot say that this is a book of particularly high caliber, it is a story literally for one evening or even less because you will read it quickly and with joy, I had a big smile plastered all over my face half of the time, I swear.
The main characters are likable and sexy scenes are written with just the right amount of filth but the rest of the troops are rather a background which I don't particularly like. The author has a really nice style and uses it well but there isn't a lot of plot going on or action of any kind which automatically will make it a good but pretty boring story. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "guilty pleasure" type of book but this will definitely not stay with you for a long time. As I like to say this is a good story but without the wow factor that I need in order to be crazy about it.
My scoring consists of 5 categories: plot (where I consider things like originality, holes, predictability, and whether I like it), style (is it boring, lengthy, correct, light, original, or consistent), characters (is it possible to like them, do they have something to offer, is their behavior justified, do they stand out with something), involvement (did the story engage me, could I tear myself away from it, did I read the story with a flushed face and thought about it all the time, what emotions it gave me), overall impressions (all of the above and simply whether I liked the book or not).

Ok... how to describe my experience of listening to the audiobook version of this book.
If I'm honest, I wasn't liking it. I just didn't feel connected to either MC and debating DNF'ing the book. I would say I still felt this way up until maybe 25-30% of the book. And I felt that there was too much emotional imbalance in the book. Didn't think Beau would have a partner he deserved. That's not bashing Payne, he just didn't have anything to give. And, given his story, that was understandable.
But, in retrospect, I'm glad I stuck with it. That amazing "book" thing happened to me - I got vested in the story. It turned a corner and I was so loving their relationship. And the imbalance I was sensing just morphed into something else, and that was something I loved seeing develop.
I probably would have given the book 4.5 stars had I enjoyed the first 25% more than I did. But, the pay-off of the rest of the book was definitely worth sticking with it!

I did not expect to like this beauty as much as I did. I finished this book January 2nd and right now (January 10th) I still can't find the right words to describe this book. The characters were more than amazing, the storyline was great, the side characters were awesome and the relationship between the guys was fantastic. Beau is hilarious even when he doesn't know it and Payne has so much to give. These guys fit together perfectly and it was an honor to read this book before it released. Also, I want Griffin and Heath as a couple as well as Art and Joey. I can't wait to hear more about these guys and read more in this world because I'm sold. I loved it, was hooked from start to finish and I just flew through. Definitely recommend it!

Super sweet and adorable. This was suggested to me when I asked for recs of stories with no 3rd act break ups. And it was perfect. Payne leaves his cheating husband and moves back to his hometown. And there’s Beau, his brother’s best friend who has been in love with him forever.
As he navigates finding a job, a place to live, and his own broken heart he gets closer with Beau. And then there’s lots of steam. And it’s hot!
Anyway, fluffy and smutty story with a sweet HEA.
