The book starts off slow but if you stick around you won’t be disappointed!! I almost DNF’d this book but then the plot twists started rolling in rapidly one after another! The author unpeeled the layers of the characters with great intensity and intention, with a very satisfying ending. I would definitely read this book again and highly recommend!

This is a fairly standard thriller that involves much suspension of disbelief, but I found it entertaining enough. I think my biggest gripe is that the last 20% of the book or so starts throwing a whole bunch of plot twists at the reader, which is also fairly standard operating procedure for commercial thrillers. I thought the book did set them up, but I didn't think it did so in a very satisfying way, giving me the sense that the book was like, "But did you expect this!" by whipping the twist out at the last minute. Still, I'll give it points for logic because most of the time when thrillers do this there is no logic, just shock value.

On a side note, I'm putting another gripe about the book behind a spoiler tag, not because it spoils the whodunnit aspect, but because it does spoil something about the ending, so read at your own risk.

SpoilerI don't even know why the dating cops were there at the end. By this point, Hal and Jenn are old news and I've forgotten about them, so it's not like I was burning with the need to know if they ever hook up. It felt oddly out of place, but maybe it was there to help pad the page count?
