Oh my goodness...what an emotional roller coaster! And what a bittersweet turn of events this story turned out to be! I am equally shocked, sad, pleased, glad...so many emotions. "Wow," is how I can summarize this story. And to those of you that have ever followed my reviews, you know that I'm stingy with the 5-star reviews. But this story, in my humble opinion, deserves it. The story engaged me from the onset. The heroine, the struggle, the intrigue, the climax, the twists (oh, the twists!), but more importantly, the way it wrenched every bit of emotion out of me (something that I LOVE in a story) sealed the deal.

The ending was both expected and not, sort of like an inkling in the back of your mind where you see the possibility for it, but when it actually does happen, you are a bit gobsmacked by it. Nonetheless, it is a good and right ending, considering the time in which the hero and heroine lived and their stations. But I will say no more on that except to say that if you enjoy an emotional story with unexpected twists and a not-so-perfect-but-perfect-for-them ending then you MUST read this. I'm so glad that I did, even if my heart squeezed a little bit in the end.

Read this. You simply must.
