Normally I'm pretty good at figuring out what's going on in books but I had no idea what was going on here. Every time I had an inkling, it turned out to be completely wrong. I do question Mr Blake's logic of collecting narratives from all these people who were just as clueless as me but it was thoroughly entertaining. I had to laugh at the differences between Mr Betteredge and Ms Clack's points of view.

Also, this might be modern sensibilities but I'm so glad that the diamond ended up restored to India.

A fun read!

What honestly made this book for me is that the diamond is returned to its rightful owners, and not the family of the greedy white men who originally stole it.
