This was a really enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to reading more from Wilkie Collins soon!

I really enjoyed reading this book and devoured it in just 3 days. The characters were interesting and plenty of them to switch between. It was the kind of book that suited the swapping between narrators without it interrupting the flow of the story much at all. And although the middle of the first part was confusing it all resolved to a satisfying end which doesn't everyone love?

4.2 Yes its old fashion ( 150 years old after all ) and somewhat tiresome but it keeps the suspense with the nativity of no dead bodies every 20 pages . It has all the twist and turns and it even made me curious how to grow roses.
Sargent Cuff has Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes peeping over his shoulder.
It was a great read I wish there was more like it and the Woman in White , already missing its world.

The Moonstone is a good, old-fashioned, exciting mystery book! It is even considered as the first detective novel written in English and I must say it doesn't disappoint at all. Written by Wilkie Collins in his unmistakable epistolary style (i.e. several narrators tell the story after it happened at someone's request, in their own perspective, with their own limitations), this books presents an interesting story, amazing characters, and a great resolution. Once again, as in The Woman in White, Collins adds some amazing female characters to his collection. Women with incredible strength, wit, and independence. I absolutely loved the character Gabriel Betteredge, who is one of the narrators, a man who has an absolute faith in a most sacred book... Robinson Crusoe. All in all, The Moonstone is an essential book!

At long last, I have finished this glorious detective novel. Wilkie Collins has stunned me once again, The Woman in White being my first experience with his writing. The Moonstone hooked me and kept me interested throughout; this was written as a precursor to the mystery genre, told using multiple narrators, which certainly lived up to expectation. Laced with plot twists, accusations and thought-provoking enigmas, I would highly recommend this as a novel that grips you from start to finish and leaves you trying to figure out what truly happened to the Indian diamond, the Moonstone.
