It took me a while to get into the book, probably because I've been reading more modern prose. But I was eventually hooked.

I really enjoyed the format of different narratives forming a cohesive story. The downside was when you found a narrator intolerable (hello Ms. Clack) you had to put up with them.

I can see how this book became known as the "first detective novel" although I do enjoy novels from the Golden Age of Mystery more.

Definitely worth a read for mystery lovers.

I read about half of this book a year or two ago and have had no interest in picking it up since. Too much flowery Victorian prose and storytelling for me.

Why have I not been reading more of Wilkie Collins?! This is the second of his stories I have experienced and was just as intriguing and delightful as the first.
