This was a reread for me. I enjoyed it the second time just as much as the first. One of the first examples of detective fiction,

This is supposed to be the first detective book or something. I really liked it. It is long and kind of slow but I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you a good mystery set in England in 1850 this book is for you!

A really fun read—I promise the only reason it took so long to get through is that I was busy, not that the book dragged or anything. I had a really good time reading it, especially because Collins’ seems to be a master of giving unique voices to different characters as they narrate. Looking forward to getting to The Woman in White.

DNF at 45%, at least for now. Wanted to try reading this classic and give it a decent chance as it’s one of my dad’s favourites, but unfortunately halfway in I’m still not getting into it at all.
