Good

I really liked it. It was a little steamy but good. It was refreshing to read a book about aliens and romance. I hadn’t seen one before.

Fun read

This was a great, quick, and fun read! I found that Poppy’s personality was almost a perfect match to my own! I could relate to a lot of the things she was saying about herself and I, also, curse often.

I only gave this book 3 stars because, while it was a fun book to read, it was one that I wouldn’t rave about to others. It was fun to get me out of the more heavy books I’d been reading lately and it served its purpose. I won’t be continuing the series because I honestly don’t feel curious enough to read about what happens next.

Calling all Genres! If you are into fantasy, romance, or sci-fi; please start reading this pronto! I picked this up and couldn’t put it down. Poppy is such a love-able and relatable character you can’t help but fall for her just like her warrior mate.
This book has all the makings of a great series and I can’t wait to start book#2. Not only do you get to explore the new romance of Poppy and Wheaton, you get a glimpse of who the other warriors of Phaeton really are and a sneak peak into their world that is so different than Earth.
I am officially a fan of the Phaeton Universe!

This book is so under hyped it should be a crime. I am not one to normally read alien smut but after seeing Leora self promote this series constantly on my FYP on tik tok I had to give it a try. I knew it was going to be funny because Leora is hilarious but I did not think it was going to have my cracking up at work, FYI this is NSFW. Wheaton is this big strong Phaeton warrior who takes Poppy on as a bride, and poppy is this curvy chick who cusses a lot, while they do not seem like they would be a perfect match they really are. Also, experiencing Wheaton trying to figure out all the fun human saying is the best thing ever. This book has gotten me out of a reading slump and I cannot wait to move on to book 2!

2.5 is the score I'd give this. It was better than okay, but overly predictable with a lot of flat characters prevent my giving this a higher score.

I picked this up as I realized I was doing a bit too much of the historical in my reading and wanted to break out of my shell for a bit, so I grabbed this for free.

On the plus side: very funny and light, speed right through it

On the negative: too fluffy and not enough meat to it (aside from the described alien beefcakes - yes, the author used that description, not me), no where near enough context for this alien civilization, and the plot was wrapped with virtually no obstacles or difficulties.

It was far too superficial for me.

The concept for this story was good but it took too long to get going.
It was ages before Poppy signed up for the bride programme.
I know the 1st book of a series sometimes sets the scene for the following books about why the programme is needed but it was really long winded about her job, neighbors etc and these were going to continue to be part of the story if she was leaving earth.
Maybe the rest of the series will improve esp as the writer gains experience.

I really liked the premise of the book but in some places it felt incredibly slow and in others incredibly rushed - seems to have an overall pacing issue. I enjoyed the main character and her relationship with her sister- especially because their relationship seemed funny and real but I really struggled to connect with some of the characters or feel they had any dimensionality. Not sure I will be continuing the series as it didn’t hook me enough to continue.
