A crime.
This author made me sit through 12 hours of audiobook for a dumb ass couple, boring ass hero and heroine, and just ONLY 2 (awful) sex scene.
My goodness...
Jail.

no because why did this book have 3 POVs? i wouldve been fine without dean's POV. that man was a psychopath. anyway i liked the book it's just when Leo starts calling Anna "baby girl" i don’t know that gave me the ick. i liked it tho
Outstanding audio cast!
The Heir is my first Sophie book and I am loving the Kingmakers world! Mike, Gregory & Chloe are outstanding and absolutely brought Anna, Leo & Dean to life

This was an enjoyable read. I thought the story was great. This is the first book of the Kingmakers series and focuses on the romance of Leo and Anna. The plot was promising and I really liked this introduction of the series and the characters. I loved Leo and Anna. Also, I thought Dean was a mysterious character. For me, Leo was sweet and caring. I thought Anna was caring, but ambitious. She was very much a woman ready to become a female mafia leader. Finally, our villain, Dean, cousin of Leo and arch nemesis. He may be seen as a bully, and brutal. However, I think he is misunderstood. He is a guy who wants to be loved and cared for. He just doesn’t know how to show that in this book. However, I am very curious to see how his love story turns out in Book 3, The Bully. I am glad to begin this journey. Let’s see where these characters and series takes me. Overall, a great read.

1.5⭐️ IM SO DISAPPOINTED UGH
Ok here are my complaints
1. Why the fuck are they cousins
2. Deans a fucking psychopath and not in a hot way like some of the shit he did was just disgusting
3. Leo and Annas romance actually started like 75% of the way into the book. And I already don’t like a slow burn romance
Anyways I’ll prob read the rest of this series bc I liked Miles and want to read his book but so far this is not a good start

A mafia Hogwarts has my name written all over it, but the idea was wasted on godawful writing and Dean.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC. Unfortunately, after getting to 33% of the book, I decided to DNF this one for several reasons.
Maybe if I had it in paper form I would be able to flip back to the beginning of the book to see the family tree over and over again to figure out how everyone is related. There’s so many characters and backstories we are told up front that it was a whirlwind trying to put them all into perspective.
I also think that the language and characters are too young for me now. At 34, I think high school into college age is just not relatable to me anymore.
I was very excited that this was suppose to be a mafia college type book. As a fan of mafia romances, I was so excited but at this stage of the book there’s been nothing really giving life to this claimed theme. Maybe if I read more we’d get more into it but other than it being a literal college setting filled with other mafia groups children, this isn’t giving what I was expecting.
Maybe I can pick this up at a later date but as of right now, it doesn’t work for me.

I stopped at 12% and put it on hold. But I don't think I'll go back to it. There are way to many other books I'd rather read.
